Connecting businesses with customers
How to make websites effective
SMALL businesses requiring help to succeed online could start by having a chat with Melissa Norfolk, of Greensborough.
She specialises in computer advice and website design for small to medium businesses.
Ms Norfolk has seven years' experience in web development.
She said over the years she has discovered many business owners do not carry out the necessary planning before setting up their websites.
"Your online presence is as important as your physical business presence," she said. "You should take time to plan the image you want to portray to your online customers and how to keep visitors coming back to your website."
"There is no point just getting a website and waiting for people to find you among the millions of web pages on the Internet."
May 21 is the starting date for two of Ms Norfolk's courses.
"Starting your web presence in 2001 is for small to medium businesses that do not have a website."
It aims to walk you through the necessary steps to set your online business goals, research your competition, get a domain name, choose a web designer, and design your online presence," Ms Norfolk said.
"The course also covers the continuing updating and marketing required."
"Making your Website Work" is for businesses that have had a website for more than six months, but are disappointed with the number of visitors or sales they have had through the website.
