Connecting businesses with customers
Use the Net to your advantage
GREENSBOROUGH-BASED company Melissa Norfolk Web Design is planning two workshops next month to teach local businesses how to build their own successful websites.
Company proprietor Melissa Norfolk said the February 13 workshops on "Starting Your Web Presence" and "Making Your Website Work", would provide business owners with valuable industry know-how.
"A website is as important as a physical shopfront and another doorway into the business," Ms Norfolk said.
"Websites and e-mail marketing are an effective way to promote your business and compete in today's fast-paced world."
Ms Norfolk said the two workshops would each last 3 1/2 hours - including an hour-long seminar and 2 1/2 hours of hands-on computer website experience.
She said until recently few small business owners knew much about websites, but they were increasingly realising what an effective tool they could be.
"(But) it can't be a static non-changing advertisement like in the paper," she said. "After it's designed more time needs to go into marketing it, looking at how many hits you are getting and working out if it's cost effective."
Ms Norfolk brings extensive training and experience to her business. After completing a Bachelor of Computer Science she worked on creating websites at Melbourne University for five years before branching out on her own. She has co-chaired online learning workshops in Hong Kong and Hawaii and is an experienced speaker on the use of Internet and technology in business.
To book for the workshops and take advantage of an early bird discount before January 31, call 03 9816 3488 or visit www.melissanorfolk.net.au.
